Miami Beach

Known for its high voltage appeal, scantily clad crowds, haute parties, late nights, lovely days, South Beach has long been seen as the wild city full of flash, action, fast cars, decadence, a sexy Latino edge, and more star sightings than there are in Hollywood. Celebs are snapping up sprawling condos in the latest buildings, such as Apogee, The Setai (which is also a "6 star" hotel and restaurant), and the W Hotel and residences (with Bliss Spa and Mr. Chow on site, and apartments equipped with Ipod docking stations, there is something that competes with the Setai).

For visitors - or those looking for a night of decadence (there's nothing sexier than staying in a hotel in the city where you live), there's the Delano, by Ian Schrager, which is perhaps the most famous of South Beach hotels - not surprising, considering the dramatic modern design (white chocolate yogurt, a must!).

Down the street, Townhouse, offers chic for cheap and Bond Street, the prized Japanese restaurant in NYC. Giving them all a run for their money is Hotel Victor, the new kid on the block, designed by the man who brought you Hotel Costes in Paris. With its jelly fish inspired design (and aquariums full of the amoeba-like creature), Turkish hamam spa, and divine restaurant, Vic's became Diddy's new favorite hang. Plus, it's next door to the members-only club, Casa Casuarina, the former Versace mansion (may Gianni rest in peace). The Raleigh, owned by Andre Balazs, reflects Art Deco at its finest - and its lagoon sized pool has set the stage for musical performances at the VMAs.

In addition to high profile restaurants like Barton G, where comfort food gets a sophisticated makeover, and the coveted boutiques on Lincoln Road, the addition of new buildings- the W, the Gansevoort and the Standard Hotel, for instance - South Beach is getting an elegant injection of supreme luxury and high design. Side note: if you ever need to send flowers, call RBK Productions (you'll never see callas the same way again).
